In December, my portfolio value increased by $7,585 from $148,025 to $155,610. December was another great month for stocks just like November. The portfolio is back to over $150K once again. Many stocks have rallied to their previous 52-week highs. For example, the Royal Bank of Canada is now trading at $133 compared to $110 a few months ago; CIBC is trading at $63 compared to $48 a few months ago. I think this rally will run out of steam. Let’s not forget that interest rates are not falling back yet. So far, there’s no indication when the central bank of Canada will start to drop the borrowing rate. I’m curious to see how the market will perform during the first quarter of 2024.
