Portfolio Value Update - October 2022

Portfolio Value
In October, my portfolio value increased by $4,388 from $140,419 to $144,807. I was expecting a small recovery after a two-month sell-off. Not sure how the markets will perform in November and December, but most likely we will not see big gains.

Dividends received in October 2021: $479.19
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $173.94 or 36%

The year-to-date income has already surpassed the total income of 2021. I also reached a new milestone of $650+ per month in regular dividends.

Portfolio Value Update - September 2022

Portfolio Value
In September, my portfolio value decreased by $11,979 from $152,398 to $140,419. That was a big drop, but regardless of what the markets are doing, I keep buying stocks every month. October might be a better month for stocks as “high-inflation” and “high-interest rate” news are fading away.

Dividends
Dividends received in September 2022: $647.13
Dividends received in September 2021: $479.19

Portfolio Value Update - August 2022

Portfolio Value
In August, my portfolio value decreased by $3,108 from $155,506 to $152,398. The first three weeks the markers were performing very well and I had my portfolio almost crossing $160K, but in the last week the markets took a beating and lost about a thousand points which dragged my portfolio value down. At least we have better buying opportunities for September.

Dividends
Dividends received in August 2022: $642.09
Dividends received in August 2021: $453.41
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $188.68 or 41%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $4,788.25

Portfolio Value Update - July 2022

Portfolio Value
In July, my portfolio value increased by $7,455 from $147,601 to $155,506. We saw a good recovery in the stock market, which pushed my portfolio above 150K again. Going forward, the growth will be minimal as I’m dumping more money into my mortgage. I’m currently paying a low interest rate, but because the rates are going up, I decided to pay off the mortgage a lot sooner. I don't want to refinance with 5+%.

Dividends
Dividends received in July 2022: $637.53
Dividends received in July 2021: $452.58
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $184.95 or 40%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $4,146.16

Portfolio Value Update - June 2022

Portfolio Value
In June, my portfolio value decreased by $12,792 from $160,393 to $147,601. It’s quite a big drop but in line with the boarder Canadian market which fell 8%. It’s not too bad. We just need to hold tight and continue investing until we reach our goals.

Dividends
Dividends received in June 2022: $618.36
Dividends received in June 2021: $443.67
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $174.69 or 39%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $3,508.63

So far the dividend growth has been strong. My dividends usually grow 10 to 15% year over year, so the 39% growth is really good.
