Portfolio Value Update - April 30, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $16.07 to $16,086.21.
The TSX closed at the highest level since 2008 and the Dow closed at record high. Most of my stocks gained some value but not much. Today is the last day of April so my monthly dividend earnings report is coming out soon :)

Alaris Royalty
The best performer of the day was AD.TO, up by 2.45% or 64 cents to $26.75. The chart still looks pretty bad, but I think that this low price is a buying opportunity.

Leisureworld Senior Care
The worst performer of the day was LW.TO, down by 1.13% or 14 cents to $12.22.

Portfolio Value Update - April 29, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $85.20 to $16,070.14.
The stocks that sold off yesterday, mainly energy companies, were rebounded today. I think the reason why the energy group advanced today is because Suncor (SU.TO) reported better than expected earnings which automatically raised expectations for other energy companies reporting this week.

Lightstream Resources
The best performer of the day was LTS.TO, up by 2.00% or 13 cents to $6.64.

New Flyer Industries
The worst performer of the day was NFI.TO, down by 0.94% or 11 cents to $11.56.

Portfolio Value Update - April 28, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $120.40 to $15,984.94.
Overall, my stocks did pretty good, but my portfolio is down because my overweight stocks (STB, VSN, and LTS) were down today. I will fix this problem in the future to make sure I have an equal weighted portfolio in order to avoid sharp losses when one stock starts to sell off. These are the trailing mistakes from the past.

Pizza Pizza Royalty
The best performer of the day was PZA.TO, up by 1.27% or 17 cents to $13.29.

Alaris Royalty
The worst performer of the day was AD.TO, down by 2.68% or 72 cents to $26.16.

Portfolio Value Update - April 25, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $118.34 to $16,158.73.
The markets pulled back as expected and most of my stocks closed lower.

New Flyer Industries
The best performer of the day was NFI.TO, up by 1.38% or 16 cents to $11.74. NFI is one of the companies that I bought in March. The stock broke up today and closed at the highest level in 6 months. Both 50 and 200 DMA are trending up so the price momentum is bullish.




H&R Real Estate
The worst performer of the day was HR.UN.TO, down by 2.60% or 61 cents to $22.85. There was no particular news why the stock was hit so much. Most of the REITs, as a group, declined but H&R got hit the hardest.

Portfolio Value Update - April 24, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $14.02 to $16,277.07.
 
Leisureworld Senior Care
The best performer of the day was LW.TO, up by 1.91% or 23 cents to $12.30. It took a while for LW to consolidate and now it's finally taking off. There will be some resistance at around $12.40, but once that's taken out, the stock should rally to $14 level.

Baytex Energy
The worst performer of the day was BTE.TO, down by 1.22% or 57 cents to $46.02. Baytex has moved up by 15% in just 2 months so deserves a little correction. There will be a lot of support around $43. Keep in mind that a soft summer season is coming and the markets will be heading lower.

Portfolio Value Update - April 23, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $56.53 to $16,263.05.
The Canadian market is slightly down and for every up stock there are two down stocks. My portfolio closed in green territory thanks to VSN and LTS which were up by more than 1%. Also, Crescent Point (CPG.TO) has signed an agreement to buy CanEra, a privately held oil and gas producer. A link is posted below.

The best performer of the day was VSN.TO, up by 1.97% or 32 cents to $16.59.

RioCan
The worst performer of the day was REI.UN.TO, down by 1.13% or 31 cents to $27.15.

Portfolio Value Update - April 22, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $31.63 to $16,206.52.

Medical Facilities
The best performer of the day was DR.TO, up by 1.21% or 23 cents to $19.30. For the second consecutive day this stock is leading its way to the upside. It closed above the 50 DMA which suggest that it could continue to go up for the new highs.

Pembina Pipeline
The worst performer of the day was PPL.TO, down by 0.96% or 41 cents to $42.42. I rarely see this stock as a bad performer, but in the past months the stock had gone up so much that a little sell off is normal.

Portfolio Value Update - April 17, 2014

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $146.83 to $16,214.35.
Triple digit growth for 2 days in a row. This doesn't happen often. Most of the stocks closed in green territory. Tomorrow Canadian market is closed for the holidays.

Lightstream Resources
The best performer of the day was LTS.TO, up by 4.48% or 29 cents to $6.77. This stock rallied 30% in just one month. It closed above the 200 DMA which is very bullish. Short term price target is $7.40. But considering the upcoming soft market season, the price may correct before reaching my price target.



Medical Facilities
The worst performer of the day was DR.TO, down by 1.82% or 35 cents to $18.85. The price closed below the 50 DMA on relatively high volume. I reduced my holding in half when the price was above $19.60 and I plan to buy it back if the stock falls back to 200 DMA which is around $17.

Portfolio Value Update - April 16, 2014 + Milestone!

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $163.15 to $16,067.52.
The market is up, the portfolio is up and I reached a new milestone of $16,000. However, everything is getting expensive and a lot of companies are trading on higher valuations.

EnerCare
The best performer of the day was ECI.TO, up by 3.17% or 34 cents to $11.08. Would I buy more stock at this price? Absolutely! But my position is full.



Liquor Stores
The worst performer of the day was LIQ.TO, down by 0.58% or 7 cents to $11.97. It will take some time for this stock to recover, but while I hold the stock I get monthly dividends. My position is very small in this stock.

Freehold Royalties
 The best performer of the day was FRU.TO, up by 3.91% or 92 cents to $24.44. The stock is up on the news about the royalty acquisition. I posted a link below.

Medical Facilities
The worst performer of the day was DR.TO, down by 2.29% or 45 cents to $19.23. The stock fell from 20.50 to 19.20 in just 3 trading days. I must admit that the stock is still expensive and it's trading at a very low volume. One big sell trade could push the price down and then the stop sells are triggered.

Crescent Point
The best performer of the day was CPG.TO, up by 2.88% or $1.21 to $43.24. Back in January I was predicting that the stock will touch $38 support level and then bounce back. Now it's over $43 and the most expensive for the past 3 years. I think the short term price target is around $44-$45.

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $44.40 to $15,904.44.

North American stock markets sold off as weak trade data from China raised fresh questions about the pace of growth in the world's second-largest economy. My portfolio outperformed the Canadian market which fell 127 points to 14,308. If my stocks continue to do well, I should reach $16,000 mark next week. Another Milestone!!

Most of the stocks recovered nicely today following the yesterday's 120 points plunge. Canada's main stock index rebounded after a surge in gold and oil prices drove up shares of natural resource companies and helped boost investor sentiment after three straight sessions of declines.

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $117.93 to $15,702.54.

At the close, the Canadian market is down by 122 points or 0.85% and my portfolio is down by 0.75%. Since a lot of stocks are overvalued, investors will look for any excuse to sell out and move their cash. There's still some downside potential in the Canadian market. The next support level for TSX is at 14,110 points.

 The best performer of the day was LTS.TO, up by 2.74% or 16 cents to $6.00. Actually, LTS is best performer for 3 days in a row. Today share price closed above 50 day moving average and the next resistance point is around $6.40

EnerCare
The worst performer of the day was ECI.TO, down by 1.32% or 15 cents to $11.19. For the past week, the stock was trying to break above $11.40 and lost momentum. It looks like it will be trading sideways for a while. The stock is up 20% just in the last 2 months.

Dividend Income Report - March 2014

For the month of March, I received a total of $83.23 in dividends vs $84.84 a year ago. My dividend payment decrease by 1.9 percent on year over year basis, but remained unchanged from the previous month. My total Year-to-Date dividend income for 2014 is $253.76.
In April I will receive a higher payout due to a new contribution to my TFSA account. Last month I bought 2 Real Estate companies (REI.UN.TO and HR.UN.TO) with monthly distributions. So far, I'm on track to meet my dividend income goal for 2014.
