Portfolio Value
Hello my fellow investors! I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! May you reach closer and closer to your personal and financial goals. May you have the energy to hustle hard and stay focused. All I can say is WOW another year flew by and another month is in the books. It's time for me to post my December's performance.
As of December 31, 2016 my dividend portfolio balance stood at $39,792.65. That’s an increase of $2,045.41 from last month. December was one of the best performing month. I broke the 38K and 39K level within the same month. I'm just a few hundred dollars away to hit a new milestone of 40K.

Dividends
Dividend income is a passive income for which I don’t have to work for. I'm glad to report that I finally made over $200 a month in dividends. In December, I received a total of $201.06 in dividends vs $151.97 for the same period a year ago. That's an increase of $49 or 39% on year-over-year basis.
My total dividend income for 2016 is $2,117.81. My goal was to receive at least $2,000 for the year.
Contributions
In December, I added $800 of fresh capital to my TFSA account. The maximum amount that I can contribute in 2016 is $5,500. Since I have contribution room from prior years, I will continue to add $800 per month until I reach my maximum contribution.
My Investment Account (TFSA)
My portfolio consists of 28 Canadian dividend paying stocks. Most of my stocks pay dividends on monthly basis. This allows me to collect dividends and reinvest them into dividend paying stocks more rapidly.
Transactions
In December, I decided to double my investment in Smart REIT (SRU.UN.TO). I bought another basket of 30 shares for $31.60 per share. My purchase decision was based on the announcement that Smart REIT is partnering with another corporation to build two residential towers in a prime location of Laval city. The construction should begin in Spring of 2017. I will be visiting that site to take pictures and update you here on my blog.
That's it for this month. Thanks guys for reading and leaving your comments. I appreciate your thoughts and support on my updates.
