Portfolio Value Update - October 23, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $54.47 to $13,505.80. I was surprised to see my portfolio in green while the markets were drifting lower. Five stocks out of 12 helped to outperform the TSX.

The best performer of the day was Student Transportation (STB.TO) up by 1.49% or 10 cents to $6.79 on high volume. STB is gearing up for another run. The 50 day moving average is above the 200 day which is bullish, however the direction of the trend is not established yet. So probably this stock will trade sideways.

The worst performer of the day was Wajax (WJX.TO) down by 3.98% or $1.51 to $36.44. This stock is very volatile. It failed to break out. Let's see if we're going to test the $34 level again.

Porftolio Value Update - October 22, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $25.47 to $13,451.25.

The best performer of the day was Pembina Pipeline (PPL.TO) up by 1.58% or 53 cents to $34.17. Within the next couple of days the stock will test its resistance level. Most of the technical indicators suggest that the price will break out. My average price is 29.70 per share.

The worst performer of the day was Crescent Point (CP.TO) down by 0.59% or 24 cents to $40.33. Still, it was a great break out for the past 2 days. Its prior resistance level is now a new support so the stock could retrace back to its new support lever of around $39. The current 50 day moving average is at $38.50.

The Toronto stock market closed higher for a sixth session Tuesday with most sectors showing gains as traders sensed that the TSX may have turned the corner amid improving global economic conditions.

Traders also took in weaker than expected U.S. jobs data that suggested the Federal Reserve likely will be in no rush to start winding up a key element of economic stimulus.

The S&P/TSX composite index climbed 61.53 points to 13,248.06, its highest level since July 2011, led by mining stocks.

Portfolio Value Update - October 21, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $99.74 to $13,425.78.

The best performer of the day was Wajax Corporation (WJX.TO) up by 2.65% or 98 cents to $38.00. As mentioned before, the resistance level is $38 and if it breaks above that, the stock could go as high as $44. Also, the 50 day moving average crossed above the 200 day moving average.

The worst performer of the day was Leisureworld Senior Care (LW.TO) down by 1.26% or 14 cents to $10.97.

Portfolio Value Update - October 18, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $227.94 to $13,326.04. No doubt, this the biggest single day gain since I started tracking my dividend portfolio online.

The best performer of the day was Wajax Corporation (WJX.TO) up by 6.20% or $2.16 to $37.02. Wajax shares made a bullish cross above the critical 200 day moving average. The next resistance level is around 38 dollars. If it breaks above resistance level, the stock could go as high as 44 dollars.

The worst performer of the day was Leisureworld Senior Care (LW.TO) down by 0.63% or 7 cents to $11.11. Looks like a little retracement, but on low volume and it's holding nicely above the 50 day moving average. However, the moving average is pointing downwards, suggesting that the stock price could go sideways before it establishes a new trend.

The Toronto Stock Exchange closed up 99.73 points at 13,136.09, its highest level since July 2011. It gained 1.9 percent on the week, its best weekly performance since July.

Portfolio Value Update - October 17, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $148.07 to $13,098.01. All of my stocks advanced today. The Toronto stock market closed above the 13,000 level for the first time since late July 2011.

The best performer of the day was First Capital Realty (FCR.TO) up by 2.11% or 36 cents to $17.45. You can see in the chart bellow that the downtrend was reversed by today's move. This stock should reach $19 again within the next 6 months.
