Portfolio Value Update - October 31, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $25.02  to $13,403.99.

WAJAX
The best performer of the day was Wajax (WJX.TO) up by 0.92% or 34 cents to $37.27. The stock still has some upside here. It managed to stay above the 50 and 200 day moving average which is very bullish for further run.

PEMBINA PIPELINE
The worst performer of the day was Pembina Pipeline  (PPL.TO) down by 1.55% or 54 cents to $34.21. It's a technical retracement from its high. Should the stock fall below $34, a lot of stop losses will be triggered, but a strong support is around $32.

Canada's main stock index fell on Thursday from two-year highs hit a day earlier, as gold stocks sank and negative earnings surprises weighed.

Portfolio Value Update - October 30, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $129.78 to $13,429.01.

The best performer of the day was EnerCare (ECI.TO) up by 2.04% or 20 cents to $9.99. The stock hit the all time high again.

The worst performer of the day was Student Transportation  (STB.TO) down by 2.37% or 16 cents to $6,60. I suggested a week ago that the stock will be trading sideways. I didn't find any fundamental news that could push the stock down. So it's a pure technical play.

Portfolio Value Update - October 29, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $25.03 to $13,558.79.

The Toronto stock market closed higher, building on the strong gains racked up so far this month amid a stream of earnings reports. The S&P/TSX composite index gained 68.77 points to 13,440.61, leaving the market up five per cent for this month alone amid positive earnings news and growing confidence about steady economic growth.

The best performer of the day was Pembina Pipeline (PPL.TO) up by 1.19% or 41 cents to $34.79.

The worst performer of the day was Leisureworld Senior Care (LW.TO) down by 1.14% or 13 cents to $10.80.

Portfolio Value Update - October 28, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $5.61 to $13,630.98.

The best performer of the day was Veresen (VSN.TO) up by 1.25% or 16 cents to $12.94.

The worst performer of the day was Liquor Stores  (LIQ.TO) down by 1.40% or 22 cents to $15.44.

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $65.18 to $13,636.59. Another good day on the markets and my portfolio has been going up for the past 7 days.

The best performer of the day was First Capital Realty (FCR.TO) up by 1.53% or 27 cents to $17.94. The stock had a bullish move today. It closed just above the critical 200 day moving average.

The worst performer of the day was Freehold Royalties (FRU.TO) down by 0.70% or 17 cents to $24.26. However, the stock is up almost 10% since August and a new uptrend is confirmed.

Portfolio Value Update - October 24, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $65.61 to $13,571.41. Another good day on the markets and my portfolio has been going up for the past 6 days.

The best performer of the day was Veresen (VSN.TO) up by 0.71% or 9 cents to $12.69. Nice chart! Higher lows, higher highs! Hopefully the stock will continue to trade within its price channel.

The worst performer of the day was First Capital Realty (FCR.TO) down by 1.34% or 24 cents to $12.67. For the past couple of days, the stock has been flirting with the 200 day moving average. It failed to break the resistance, so a little correction is coming here. The stock might test 17 dollar level again. However, the downtrend has been broken when it had a second rally in mid October.

Portfolio Value Update - October 23, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $54.47 to $13,505.80. I was surprised to see my portfolio in green while the markets were drifting lower. Five stocks out of 12 helped to outperform the TSX.

The best performer of the day was Student Transportation (STB.TO) up by 1.49% or 10 cents to $6.79 on high volume. STB is gearing up for another run. The 50 day moving average is above the 200 day which is bullish, however the direction of the trend is not established yet. So probably this stock will trade sideways.

The worst performer of the day was Wajax (WJX.TO) down by 3.98% or $1.51 to $36.44. This stock is very volatile. It failed to break out. Let's see if we're going to test the $34 level again.

Porftolio Value Update - October 22, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio increased by $25.47 to $13,451.25.

The best performer of the day was Pembina Pipeline (PPL.TO) up by 1.58% or 53 cents to $34.17. Within the next couple of days the stock will test its resistance level. Most of the technical indicators suggest that the price will break out. My average price is 29.70 per share.

The worst performer of the day was Crescent Point (CP.TO) down by 0.59% or 24 cents to $40.33. Still, it was a great break out for the past 2 days. Its prior resistance level is now a new support so the stock could retrace back to its new support lever of around $39. The current 50 day moving average is at $38.50.

The Toronto stock market closed higher for a sixth session Tuesday with most sectors showing gains as traders sensed that the TSX may have turned the corner amid improving global economic conditions.

Traders also took in weaker than expected U.S. jobs data that suggested the Federal Reserve likely will be in no rush to start winding up a key element of economic stimulus.

The S&P/TSX composite index climbed 61.53 points to 13,248.06, its highest level since July 2011, led by mining stocks.

The best performer of the day was Wajax Corporation (WJX.TO) up by 2.65% or 98 cents to $38.00. As mentioned before, the resistance level is $38 and if it breaks above that, the stock could go as high as $44. Also, the 50 day moving average crossed above the 200 day moving average.

The best performer of the day was Wajax Corporation (WJX.TO) up by 6.20% or $2.16 to $37.02. Wajax shares made a bullish cross above the critical 200 day moving average. The next resistance level is around 38 dollars. If it breaks above resistance level, the stock could go as high as 44 dollars.

The worst performer of the day was Leisureworld Senior Care (LW.TO) down by 0.63% or 7 cents to $11.11. Looks like a little retracement, but on low volume and it's holding nicely above the 50 day moving average. However, the moving average is pointing downwards, suggesting that the stock price could go sideways before it establishes a new trend.

The Toronto Stock Exchange closed up 99.73 points at 13,136.09, its highest level since July 2011. It gained 1.9 percent on the week, its best weekly performance since July.

The best performer of the day was First Capital Realty (FCR.TO) up by 2.11% or 36 cents to $17.45. You can see in the chart bellow that the downtrend was reversed by today's move. This stock should reach $19 again within the next 6 months.

The worst performer of the day was Liquor Stores  (LIQ.TO) down by 1.20% or 18 cents to $14.88.

Under the deal, the government would reopen through Jan. 15 and Treasury would be allowed to increase the U.S. borrowing authority through Feb. 7.

The S&P/TSX composite index gained 25.75 points at 12,957.21, held back by weakness in the mining sectors.

Stock of the Day - EnerCare Inc. (ECI C$9.51, TSX)

I was glad to see, in my brokerage account, one of my stocks to be featured as the “stock of the day” and decided to share that with you. I personally started buying this stock about a year ago for around $8.50 per share. I’m a big believer of this company. Anyway, here’s what Disnat analysts had to say about this company:

We marketed with EnerCare’s CEO John Macdonald and CFO Evelyn Sutherland in Toronto on October 10. We came away with increased conviction in the company’s ability to meet (or even exceed) the long-term rentals gross attrition assumption of 4.0% that is built into our forecasts. On the sub-metering side of the business, management continues to position the company for an eventual slowdown in the Toronto condominium market by promoting its ‘whole building solution’, Though developers continue to bring new condominium projects on stream. We believe that EnerCare’s current share price presents an attractive entry point for investors to initiate or add to positions. We maintain our Buy–Average Risk rating and C$11.25 target.

Portfolio Value Update - October 15, 2013

Today my Dividend Portfolio decreased by $43.39 to $12,969.88. Canada's main stock index closed higher on Tuesday, with a sharp jump in gold mining shares boosting the resource-rich exchange as investors bought the precious metal amid worry about an impasse in U.S. debt ceiling negotiations.

The best performer of the day was Leisureworld Senior Care (LW.TO) up by 1.97% or 21 cents to $10.85. You can see in the chart below the price closed above the 50 day moving average. There were no related news for this stock so probably it's just a technical move.

I think this is the biggest single day drop since I started tracking my portfolio online. The Toronto stock market recovered nicely today, up by 164 points. Most of my stocks participated in today's rally, but since I have a big position in LTS it dragged my portfolio value down. Markets are speculating that the company will cut the dividend, which is possible especially if oil prices retreats from its levels. There were no stock related news today except for FRU.TO who declared October dividend to be paid in November . See you all tomorrow.
