Portfolio Value
Everybody is aware that January was a pretty good month so I won’t be wasting your time sugar-coating it how good it was. On January 31, 2019 my investment portfolio was valued at $65,596. The value increased by $5,470 from previous month. This was the best monthly increase of all times. Main reason for the increase – stocks went up. To be honest, I did not expect the market to rebound so fast.
Dividends
Dividends received in January 2019: $320.40
Dividends received in January 2018: $240.83
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $79.57 or 33%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $320.40
One of the activities that I enjoy is to sit down with my cup of coffee and calculate all the dividends that I received during the month. This is the third month in a row that I received over $300. All dividends are reinvested into dividend paying stocks.
AdSense Earnings
Adsense earnings from blog: $0.48
Adsense earnings from YouTube: $46.26
Total AdSense earnings: $46.74
My adsense earnings are back to normal ranging from $40 to $50 per month. The last two months I was earning over $200 from YouTube because of a few popular videos that I uploaded last year. They are holiday type videos so they get a lot of views during Christmas. In January I uploaded 8 more videos on my channel, including footage of snowstorm that we had on January 21, 2019.
Contributions
In January I transferred $575 to my TFSA account. I will continue to contribute the same amount every month. My TFSA contribution limit will be reached by the end of this year.
Transactions
In January I made one transaction by purchasing 10 shares of Royal Bank of Canada (TSE:RY). You can read more details about this purchase in my previous post.

ReplyDeleteYour generating posts left right and center!
great yr over yr dividend growth and fantastic youtube earnings!
keep it up man
cheers!
Thanks! Can't wait to read your monthly update! Dividend earnings are ramping up. I'm starting to feel the effect of reinvesting the dividends. They add significant portion of my monthly purchasing power. Youtube earnings are unpredictable. It goes up and down regardless if I post new videos or not.
DeleteAwesome increase for Jan German - any particular stocks that did most of the heavy lifting?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Frankie! Welcome to the blog! If I had to chose one particular stock that would be Laurentian Bank (TSE:LB). The stock went up from $36 to $44 in one month. That's over 20% increase and it's my second biggest holding.
DeleteI am amazed that your YouTube channel is not related to dividend. Buy anything that can contribute to adding more shares that produce dividend is really good. I want to build some Side Hustling to increase income in the future like you.
ReplyDeleteHi dsfi, I share my dividend investing journey on this blog and I post my hobby videos on YouTube.
DeleteGerman - Nice job right there! I love the results and the diversification of your earnings. Over $40 from your Youtube channel is pretty darn impressive.
