Portfolio Value Update - August 2020

Welcome back! It’s the time to report my August progress. Guys, this report will be super short and straight to the point. So, let’s get started.

Portfolio Value
In August, my stock portfolio value increased by $757 and closed at $88,130. The increase came from stocks appreciation. I did not add any new funds in August. I’m saving some cash for new purchases. The crazy stock market must cool down. If the market remains hot, I will simply save $6,000 for 2021 TFSA contribution to max it out in January.

Dividends
Dividends received in August 2020: $406.10
Dividends received in August 2019: $358.03
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $48.07 or 13.43%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $3,262.27

I’m happy with another double-digit growth month. Despite some dividend cuts in March and April due to covid, the portfolio continued to perform well. So far, the power of compound growth proved to be resilient during these difficult times.

AdSense Earnings
Adsense earnings from the blog: $2.36
Adsense earnings from YouTube: $478.80
Total AdSense earnings: $481.16

My AdSense earnings increased by 512% compared to last year from $78.65 to $481.16. The views on my YouTube channel have increased from 1,400 per day (August 2019) to 12,900 per day (August 2020). I also noticed that the channel is growing at a record pace. In August, the channel gained 1,582 new subscribers vs 77 new subs it gained in August 2019. All I can say, YouTube has killer potentials, but I do spend 25 to 30 hours per week filming, editing and publishing. Imagine If I did YouTube full time and spent 50 to 60 hours per week.

Transactions
No transactions in August, but I’m saving cash for new purchases within the next few months.

  2. Wow that YT income impressive. No wonder more DGI bloggers are moving towards a video platform. We're getting lazier and lazier and spoon feeding content in video is easier to digest than reading. Sign of the times I guess and your Adsense earnings reflects it. Congrats on putting up double digit year over year gains. Keep up the good work,
