Portfolio Value Update - March 2026

Portfolio Value
In March, my portfolio declined by $2,034, falling from $250,017 to $247,983. This pullback was not unexpected, as the markets had been bullish in the preceding months. During the month, I also contributed $300 to my TFSA, leaving $2,700 in remaining contribution room.

Dividends
Dividends received in March 2026: $962.93
Dividends received in March 2025: $846.14
Year-Over-Year Dividend Growth: $116.79 or 13.80%
Year-To-Date Dividend Income: $2,843.28

Transactions
In a regular cash account I bought:
  • Algonquin Power (AQN.TO): 137 shares at $8.59 per share.
I continue to accumulate AQN shares to lower my cost basis. The company is on recovery path. The average-down strategy will help me to break-even faster.

In a TFSA account I bought:
  • Allied Properties (AP.UN.TO): 100 shares at $9.07 per share.
I used the same strategy for AP.UN to lower my average cost. I bought the first 100 shares in February for $10.14 per share. Now that it dropped a dollar, it makes sense to average down. If it drops another 10%, I will buy more shares.
